When the morning comes cold, the autumn of sporting, reading and eating will draw close. Once in October, the trees of the Hesaka elementary school garden gradually begin to color and we can feel the deepening of the autumn. "Harvest season", we are summarizing the learning outcomes of the previous term right now. We hope to clarify the results and problems of our educational activities so far and make improvements.

After the summer vacation was over, vigorous children came back our school. In this summer, it was a long spell of intense heat days in the west Japan. We saw many sunburned faces of children. When we saw them talking about their memory of summer vacation with teachers and their friends, we are happy to know that they grow up strong and spiritually rich through many experiences. We thank you for parents' and local people's support during the summer vacation, for they could lead safe and healthy lives. We are deeply grateful to you.

We held a school assembly called “Nijiiro Shukai.” This assembly has three purposes. First, through voluntary and self-reliant activities of the Children’s Board, we foster excellent leadership for the upper grade pupils. Second, we enhance the school's ability and, third, we try to have pupils enjoy a delightful and rich school life. We have different activities at each assembly, pairing up with different grades like the 1st graders with the 6th graders, the 2nd graders with the 4th graders and the 3rd graders with 5th graders. The 4th graders and above, as the upper grade pupils, take the lead in each assembly and take care of the lower grade pupils.

The athletic meeting was successfully completed. For the meeting, pupils have repeated exercise from the consecutive holidays (the first week of May) ended.
In the meeting pupils of any grade showed their sincere mind to try hard with demonstrating fruitful result of these exercise.
The slogan of this meeting is "with full power! to one heart! toward victory road! ".
Pupils' attitude to do their best with the mind never giving up until the end was very nice and impressive. We think the result will be followed by "one heart of the school " and promoting education toward further leap.
Thank you so much again and again for warm cheering truly. Also, in the withdraw of tents after the meeting end, we had many parents' kind cooperation. It was much helpful and we are grateful for those cooperation.

School District

Hesaka Elementary School is located 6 km north of downtown Hiroshima. The school district is surrounded by hills to the east, south and west, and the Ota-gawa River runs north of the school. The JR Geibi Line runs at the foot of the eastern hills, a prefectural road runs along the Ota-gawa River, and another prefectural road runs through the center of the district from north to south.

This district used to be an old, agricultural area blessed with the clear water of the Ota-gawa River, where people with kind heart had lived. Since around 1955, the area has been developed as a bedroom town of people commuting to downtown Hiroshima.

Since around 1962, when the district was designated as “residential area,” numerous large housing complexes have been quickly built. As more and more new residential houses, condominiums, and shops were built, the landscape of the district changed.
